
The following are articles I have personally read and found helpful in discussing autistic burnout and how to heal from it. This is by no means an exhaustive list. Some of the articles use functioning labels, person first language, mention ABA Therapy, and may mention or use other terms that the actually autistic community reject, but the specific information on burnout may be useful to people, so I include them with the trigger warning. This explains a lot to me. I can't easily share a home. When I have had to, no matter how much I enjoy the people I have shared with, it sends me into a several year withdrawal into my shell. It's all just too much and too exhausting. I do adapt to living with my family eventually, though sometimes I crave them taking a trip so I can be alone for a while.
